Jan. 8--Despite recent news about low inflation, thousands of Rhode Islanders who subscribe to Bell Atlantic's unlimited statewide calling plan are in for sticker shock when their next phone bills arrive.
Effective January 1, the price of the calling plan jumped from $22 to $25 a month, a 13.6 percent increase.
On the other hand, some residential customers and most business customers may be in for a pleasant surprise as the rate for another service -measured service -- has declined slightly.
