A White senior producer at ABC TV's "Good Morning America" was recently suspended for a month without pay for referring to Blacks as "spades" when discussing a planned segment on basketball star Latrell Sprewell.
The morning talk show had decided to interview well-known Black Americans for a story on the racial elements of the Sprewell case.
Kevin Cosgrove went to two talent bookers for "Good Morning America" and said, "The bosses want spades for the Sprewell segment," according to the New York Daily News.
Cosgrove admitted to making the remark and "expressed deep, sincere regret," said ABC spokeswoman Eileen Murphy.
