South Dakota State took the top team award at The 87th Annual Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Contest.
Each year, teams of undergraduate and graduate students studying dairy or food science compete in the evaluation contest. Participants in this sensory evaluation competition evaluate six categories of dairy foods: butter, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, ice cream, milk and yogurt, as well as competing in an "all products" category.
The contest is designed to encourage students to hone their sensory evaluation skills and to pursue their interest in food and dairy industry careers. This year the competition took place Oct. 22 in Newark, Ohio.
