The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees put up 14 hits to drub the Syracuse Chiefs 8-3 Friday at PNC Field.
The loss ends the Chiefs' five-game winning streak and drops them five games behind the Yankees in the North Division standings.
Center fielder Todd Linden hit 4-for-5 with three runs to lead Scranton (33-22) at the plate. Second baseman Justin Leone chipped in two RBIs on 3-of-4 hitting.
Juan Miranda hit a solo home run for Scranton, but the Yankees piled up their runs getting single scores in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, before getting two runs each in the seventh and eighth.
