Sun sets on one manufacturer, dawns on another

After 198 years of printing cloth at its Webster fabric plant, Cranston Print Works' machines are idle, its workers, who once numbered about 700, now laid off or transferred to other locations. The company, whose products ironically included thousands of American flags, has shifted its textile printing to operations in China, South Korea, Taiwan and Pakistan, and already shuttered operations in North Carolina and Rhode Island.
