NEW YORK, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- According to sales tracker Thomson Reuters, Wal-Mart's same-store sales have risen 3.4% so far this year. By contrast, competitors experienced on average a 4.6% decline in same-store sales index for 30 large retail chains, including Target, J.C. Penney and Macy's. Mike Duke, new CEO of Wal-Mart stated at a recent share holders meeting, "I do believe that this economic crisis worldwide has brought a fundamental shift in consumer behavior."
