Move over Nintendo, Sony's back.
For the past year, Nintendo 64 has been considered the market share leader in next-generation videogames. But new data and retail feedback suggest that the game landscape is changing, with PlayStation now in the lead.
The two platforms have been running almost neck-and-neck since the September launch of Nintendo 64.
But in August, PlayStation captured 49 percent of the next-generation hardware market, while N64 took 47 percent, according to The NPD Group, Port Washington, N.Y. This is the first month since Nintendo's launch that it has not dominated market share.
