Article: PV alliance sees on-grid solar power cost at RMB1/kWh by 2012.(Energy Chemical)(Conference notes)

Thirteen leading Chinese solar photovoltaic companies including Wuxi Suntech Power Co., Ltd., Yingli Green Energy Holding Co., JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. and LDK Solar Co., Ltd. jointly issued a declaration on April 28th at the 2009 China (Luoyang) Solar PV Industry Annual Conference, reassuring their aim at lowering on-grid solar power price to RMB1 per kilowatt hour by 2012.

For solar power, RMB1 per kWh has been deemed as a threshold for large-scale commercialization of the clean energy source, because at that level, solar energy could be affordable even without governmental subsidy. Currently, solar power costs about RMB4 per kWh.
