Four ethanol plants file for Chapter 11

Subsidiaries operating four Pacific Ethanol Inc. ethanol production plants have filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

The wholly owned units filed voluntary petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, the company said May 18. They will try to restructure their debt while continuing to operate.
