HIGH POINT, N.C. -- With traditional broadloom market share giving way to hard surface floor coverings and area rugs, runner rugs are becoming a viable tool to help boost area rug sales.
For decades, runner rugs have usually been manufactured in a very limited range of designs and colors. But with more new products on the market, times may be changing for this once staid product category.
"This is a significantly growing business and a great opportunity for retailers," noted Anne R. Carley, director of products and marketing for Karastan Rugs, a division of Mohawk Industries.
"The key factor is coordination," Carley said.
