DANIEL MERRIWEATHER was bracing himself to sing in front of the biggest audience of his life when his mobile phone went off. Normally, that would be an unwelcome distraction. Not in this case.
The text message told him that his debut album, Love & War, had leapt into the British charts at number two, just pipped to this week's top spot by fellow singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini.
It was the best fillip that the Australian had ever received, and his elation was reflected in a jubilant performance before the 55,000 fans who had flocked to the Emirates Stadium in London last Sunday.
