WASHINGTON _ Facing down the most grave accusations ever launched against his presidency, President Clinton Wednesday firmly denied allegations that he had an affair with a 21-year-old White House intern and then engaged in illegal efforts to cover it up.
``That is not true. That is not true,'' Clinton said in an interview with PBS. ``I did not ask anyone to tell anything other than the truth.
``There is no improper relationship,'' he added.
The president's denial followed news reports that independent prosecutor Kenneth Starr is investigating whether Clinton and a close friend, Vernon Jordan, advised the young woman to lie about a ...
