Each year in the United States almost one million adolescent girls become pregnant, and two and a half million adolescents are diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease (STD).[1-3] Sexuality education in the public school system is one of the primary approaches to preventing health problems resulting from adolescent sexual activity.
