Satellite TV in Latin America, it seems, is hot. Even as officials of Galaxy Latin America (GLA) were hosting more than 1,000 people at Cape Canaveral Air Station, Fla., for the launch of the direct-to-home television service's second satellite, Galaxy VIIIi (see related story, pp. 1-3), the company's archrival was showing off its new, $140 million digital broadcast facility down the highway in Miami. Sky Latin America said the new facility is the world's most advanced DVB-based broadcast facility, and hosted 500 people to celebrate its completion.
