None injured in fire at plant
A blaze broke out inside an asphalt plant at the city's Department of Public Works on Friday when a large container of fuel overheated, authorities said.
The fire erupted at 2:35p.m. in a 200-gallon-sized tub holding about 40 gallons of fuel in the plant at 7245 N. Laurel Canyon Blvd. There were no injuries, said d'Lisa Davies, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman.
The fire forced the closure of the east Hollywood Freeway off-ramp at Laurel Canyon Boulevard for an hour, because firefighters had supply lines of water stretched across the street.
