CRESWELL - Home-course advantage was in full effect for South Eugene and Sheldon to open the OSAA Class 6A boys golf championships.
Playing an Emerald Valley Golf Club course on which both regularly practice, the Axemen and Irish charged to the front of the pack in the first round Monday. All five players from South Eugene shot in the 70s, while only one other team in the field had as many as three in the 70s - district rival Sheldon.
The Axemen were at 16-over 304 as a team entering today's 18-hole final round, and the Irish were seven strokes back in second place. Individual leader Arthur Kim shot 1-under ...
