Article: Study for a Resurrection. (St. Mark's Church In-the-Bowery, New York, New York)

Twelve mild-mannered men, six of them singers, the rest dancers, shared this ecclesiastically titled journey, called Study for a Resurrection. The singers were members of a choral group called Lionheart. They gave well-balanced, a capella renditions of twelfth- to sixteenth-century sacred music.

Simply clad in black shirts and trousers, they were first deployed on one of the church balconies and then took a variety of simple formations in and around the dancing space. At one point four of them sat before a table deep within the area.

The dancers solemnly intertwined. They seemed keenly attuned to one another, and yet their action was more ritualistic ...
