Baja's 212 Islander is a family boat from a performance builder
I thought we had two strikes against us before we even twisted the ignition on the new Baja 212 Islander.
Strike One was the fact that neither Courtney Smith, Baja's director of marketing, nor I are lightweights. Both of us are, as they say in England, on the far side of 15 stone - 210 pounds to those of us in the Colonies.
Strike Two was that our test Baja 212 was fully loaded with nearly 500 pounds of fuel, plus all of the Trailer Boats test equipment: radar guns, fuel flow devices, and support gear.
Weight, of course, has a direct bearing on boat performance. Heavy means the boat ...
