VENETA - Secret House Vineyards has closed after more than 20 years in business, and its property will be the new home for a Carlton winery with Lane County roots.
Domaine Meriwether has purchased the 54-acre Secret House property off Highway 126, which has become a popular venue for summer concerts, weddings and events such as the Faerieworlds festival.
Buzz Kawders, owner of Domaine Meriwether, said his winery has been operating out of a cooperative wine-making facility called the Carlton Winemakers Studio since 2002, but he's been looking for several years for a place to locate a stand-alone winery.
