There's an easy way to stay out of trouble with credit cards: Pay the balance in full before it's due each month. People who do this can get great deals from credit card companies - such as cards with no annual fee, plus cash rebates or frequent-flyer miles - and never pay a dime of interest. The cost of providing these services is borne by other customers who can't or won't maintain a zero balance and end up paying fees and interest, sometimes at exorbitant rates. Congress just has approved legislation that will equalize the credit card companies' treatment of their customers.
