A Frenchman on a milk run
THE ARTICLE about Portsmouth's Pet Dairy plant closing (Hampton Roads, June 16), though sad, reminded me of a humorous story I always wanted to submit to Reader's Digest. When I was a student, I spent my summers working in the general store at Holiday Trav-L Park in Virginia Beach. One day, a distraught French-Canadian tourist called me back to the cooler because he couldn't find the milk. When I pointed to the Pet products, he said, "But do you have any milk for ze humans?"
