ROBBEN ISLAND, SOUTH AFRICA--For 21 years, Patrick Matanjana was jailed in a cell on this sliver of land, 6 miles off the coast of Cape Town. That in itself is not remarkable: During the decades of apartheid rule, hundreds of South Africa's black leaders were banished to this island prison, from which no one ever survived an escape attempt. What is remarkable is that Matanjana now spends his days reliving much of his imprisonment as he guides tourists around the island.
