With dollar and unit sales both posting healthy gains over the past year, frozen Asian foods appear poised for further growth.

According to the Nielsen Company, dollar sales of frozen Asian entrees rose 8.4% to $545.4 million in supermarkets, drug stores and mass merchandisers (except Wal-Mart) for the 52 weeks ended Jan. 24. Units gained 6.4% to reach 196.1 million.

Asian one-food entrees rose 9.8% to $446.9 million, with units ahead 9.3% to 151.9 million, Nielsen said. Two-food entrees gained 2.2% in dollars to $44.2 million, but dipped 2.5% in units to 44.2 million.
