18 June 2009 --- Samoa stands to lose $10 million a year in tariffs currently collected on imports from Australia and New Zealand, if we sign up to the controversial PACER Plus agreement.
So warned Le Siosiomaga Society Inc. Executive Director, Fiu Mataese yesterday.
Speaking during a press conference, Fiu said the figure was based on a study commissioned by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
The report states that Samoa stands to lose around 14 per cent of its annual government revenue.
Not only will Samoa lose that much, most of the basic services will be privatised.
