New oil and tenders planned for 1998

The Oil Ministry plans to invite bids within six months for the development of more than 13 oil and gas projects, including for the first time onshore schemes. The invitations, which will be in addition to 11 tenders for offshore projects issued in 1995, follow agreements with European and other oil firms willing to break US sanctions, and domestic legislative changes to improve investment conditions.
