To reduce the cost of building vehicles in Alabama, Honda Motor Co. is taking over some of its suppliers' jobs there.
Bringing the parts work inside its Lincoln, Ala., assembly plant will translate into lower logistics costs, said Chuck Ernst, Honda's senior vice president for the operation.
"We're in-sourcing more to try to take advantage of efficiencies and reduce logistics, Ernst told an audience here last week at the Automotive News Manufacturing Conference.
