Business leaders said it's too soon to judge a proposed government charter creating a Macomb County executive, since much can still change in the finishing touches to it this week.
The Macomb County Charter Commission, elected in November, expects to hold its last meeting Wednesday and submit a home-rule charter to Gov. Jennifer Granholm by Friday.
The charter calls for 13 county commissioners, instead of the current 26, and a county executive who will start at a salary of roughly $137,000 per year. Final compensation must be determined by the new board.
