It was an unforgettable scene in the White House East Room with many in the crowd rocking, swaying, shouting, singing, and crying.
"Just like one of our down-home prayer sessions," quipped a wide-eyed guest as President Clinton awarded the Medal of Freedom to the one-and-only James Farmer.
"He has never sought the limelight, and until today, I frankly think he's never gotten the credit he deserves," said the president between the avalanche of applause. "His longoverdue recognition has come to pass," Clinton added.
