Russian rail freight transport down 20.3% in May - Rosstat

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - Rail freight transport in Russia decreased 20.3% to 91.5 million tonnes in May 2009 compared to May 2008, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Rail freight in May was 2.6% higher than in the previous month.

Volumes in May declined for all freight categories except grain (up 9.1%) and oil and petroleum products (up 2.9%).
