India's federal government is considering selling up to a 10% stake in Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Minister of Heavy Industries Vilasrao Deshmukh said Friday.
The revival of the long-stalled stake sale plan pushed up the company's shares, which were also helped by news that the state-run power equipment maker will sign pacts with various state governments and foreign companies for power projects.
"We are considering it (the stake sale) but no final decision has been taken," he told reporters. "In principle we are not opposed to disinvestment." The government is also considering a stake sale in loss-making Tide Water Oil ...
