New industry is always good for a community, but growth is equally important to the health of local economy.

"A company is only new to the community once," said Derrill Pierce, chief executive officer for the Economic Development Alliance of Jefferson County. "After that, it's either moving forward or backward."

Pine Bluff industry is definitely moving forward, he added, with capital investment dollars expended by new industry during the past 10 years totaling $125 million.
