This article presents the content of the statutes of the 50 states (and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands) in reference to wrongful death suits and damage awards. The information displayed herein was gathered from The Martindale-Hubbell Law Digest (1995) and the American? Tort Reform Association Informational Newsletter (June 30, 1995). We identify 25 distinguishable kinds of awards, limitations, and procedures in the various states, suggesting a tabular presentation. The presentation is comprehensive and to our knowledge constitutes the first tabular summary of state statutory law on the subject of wrongful death. The survey results and the format ...
