Rula Deeb explained that in Haifa, Israel, feminism has brought together Jewish-Israeli and Arab-Israeli women to fight for the same cause: helping women advance their careers, education and self-respect. An Arab-Israeli women's activist who worked for Haifa-based Isha L'Isha, the oldest grassroots feminist organization in Israel, Deeb recently visited Boston as part of the Haifa-Boston NGO Learning Exchange Research Project.
"This is my third year in this program," she said. "I was inspired by my visits to Boston by seeing how the organizations work here and how they empower the participants. It's a big privilege to come here and learn and use the new ideas back ...
