The old Lowry Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis will come tumbling down Sunday morning.
But don't expect the controlled 9 a.m. implosion to look anything like a dramatic, Hollywood-style blast, Hennepin County officials said Thursday.
In fact, don't expect to see it at all.
There are no public places where spectators can gather to view the bridge collapse because the nearby river banks are lined with private properties, said explosives expert Lisa Kelly. And Edgewater Park, which affords a perfect view of the structure from northeast Minneapolis, will be off-limits for safety reasons.
