We're sitting in Dick and Anne Pierce's grand front yard, which ambles out to Oneida Lake, over yonder. We sip ice tea and lemonade; the sun is shining. The peaceable scene is a contrast to the bad news I'm in Constantia to write about.
The North Shore Public Library, a community asset for a century, is closed.
The building has a FOR SALE sign on it. There's a blunt note on the front door explaining what happened. Inside, books are boxed and ready to move out. It's a sad time for some folks along the north side of Oneida Lake.
