The Peoplerides Carevan transportation service that takes people to and from medical appointments and procedures is slated to see a major spike in cost to the rider.
The service will no longer receive partial support from Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center for rides to certain places, which means the cost of the one-way rides in Marshalltown may jump from $4.25 to $8 and rural rides from $13 to $29. The proposed increased costs will include rides to and from McFarland Clinic, Wolfe Clinic, Primary Health, Eyecare Associates, Marshalltown Orthopedics and Iowa Heart.
