California's intensely competitive workers' compensation insurance market may lead to carrier mergers, according to the head of a firm that recently stopped writing business in the state.
"There will be a change in the near term," predicted Roger Ins. Co. in Anaheim, Calif. Mr. Moseley said while he could not guess what the future might bring, he thought "there may be more carrier consolidation."
The Orange County-based insurer announced Jan. 5 it "will no longer insurance in California," but will service existing policies until they expire and may return if the market improves.
