John E. Hoffman A memorial service for John E. Hoffman, 86, formerly of Elgin, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 9920 W. Grand Ave., Franklin Park. Interment will be private in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. He was a medic in the Army during World War II, where he served in Normandy and the Rhineland campaigns. He was wounded in France in 1944, while serving in the 3rd Armored Infantry Regiment and received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a 60-year member of the Elgin American Legion. Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia (nee Krunnfusz); his son, Steve S. (Sally) Hoffman ...
