Campaign promises were fulfilled as the Wauconda Department of Public Works held the first of what could be many meetings regarding road construction and other village issues.

The newly-elected Mayor Mark Knigge had the idea for this open meeting, which was meant to educate residents on how roads are selected for repair; road construction in the past, present and future; and how road construction is funded.

"The purpose was to give residents an opportunity to see what were evaluating with roads and get community input," Director of Public Works David Geary said.
