Each year, more than a million tourists visit Crete to see the ancient Minoan ruins. Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, lies in the Mediterranean Sea, about 60 miles south of the mainland of Greece.
Guide books tell you the best times to visit are in April and May. Then, every outcrop of rock is ablaze with brilliant wildflowers. If you go in July or August, get ready for the heat.
