Article: M&H Tire founder Rifchin dies at 94.(News)(Obituary)

Marvin Rifchin, founder of independent race tire maker M&H Tire Co., died June 3. He was 94.

Mr. Rifchin, a 2003 inductee into the Specialty Equipment Market Association Hall of Fame, founded M&H Tire with his father Harryhence the company name M&Hin Gardner, Mass., in 1952, after he couldn't find decent tires for the midget and stock cars he raced then.

His entry into drag racing came in the early 1960s after drag racing legend "Big Daddy Don Garlits tried a set of Mr. Rifchin's tires at a race in South Carolina and rode them to victory in the Top Eliminator class.
