Based on the first preliminary estimates for 2008, gross domestic product (GDP) per inhabitant expressed in purchasing power standards (PPS) ranged from 40% to 253% of the EU27 average across the member states, ie from one to six.
The data published on 25 June by Eurostat show that in France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Cyprus, GDP per inhabitant was within 10% of the EU average.
