Conditions attached to approval for the south west desalination plant include protection for whales and turtles. A proposed desalination plant in Western Australia's south west has been given a final go-ahead.
The federal Governnment today issued final approvals for the $1 billion Southern Seawater Desalination plant proposed for Binningup, north of Bunbury.
Strict conditions have been attached to the approval, including a requirement to preserve and revegetate almost 50 hectares of habitat at the site.
