CANBERRA - Australian telecommunications companies and utilities will be required to provide the federal government with information about their assets if a bill before parliament is passed.

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said accessing information about telecommunications infrastructure like ducts, pits and poles, would support the timely roll-out of the national broadband network (NBN).
