DHAKA, June 29 Asia Pulse - The existing water bodies, including ponds, in and around the Bangladesh port city of Chittagong, are dwindling fast as those are being filled up mainly for commercial and residential use, harming the environment.

Though a city requires 25 per cent open space, including vegetation and water, to keep it geographically and environmentally fit, the government agencies are reluctant to take action against those who are responsible for the quick disappearance of water bodies and ponds in the port city.
