In June, St. JohnAEs Evangelical Lutheran Church and School in Algonquin honored Faye Porstner, who retired after 35 years of teaching.
She has served in both the public school system and the parochial school system throughout her career. While serving at St. JohnAEs Lutheran School, she taught as a resource teacher, third- and fourth-grade teacher, fifth- and sixth-grade teacher and as a social science teacher.
Throughout her career, Porstner taught, guided, counseled and witnessed to hundreds of students, many of whom she had the privilege to watch grow, marry and become parents and teachers themselves.
