Dhaka, June 27 (UNB) - The existing water bodies, including ponds, in and around the port city of Chittagong, are dwindling fast as those are being filled up mainly for commercial and residential use, harming the environment.
Though a city requires 25 percent open space, including vegetation and water, to keep it geographically and environmentally fit, the government agencies are reluctant to take actions against those who are responsible for the quick disappearance of water bodies and ponds in the port city.
