MUSCAT Eoe1/4" Singapore will welcome about 1,400 young athletes from 45 countries for the first Asian Youth Games (AYG) that starts today. The athletes are competing in 90 events across nine sports till July 7. Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Swimming, Shooting and Bowling are some of major games at this yearEoe1/4aos event. Oman will take part in Football, Volleyball and Diving.
The Olympic Council of Asia has given Singapore the nod to host the multi-sport event for athletes aged between 14 and 18. The event is seen as practice ahead of the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG) here in 2010.
