Seven people were rescued from Lake Mendota after their boat began sinking and eventually flipped Sunday evening, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses reported the sinking boat and said its occupants were in the water around 6:09 p.m.
The Sheriff's Office Marine and Trail Enforcement personnel, who had been patrolling the lake, rescued three people who were in the water, while the other four swam about 100 yards to shore, the Sheriff's Office said. No injuries were reported.
