MXK Eligible for RUS Funding to Speed Universal Broadband Service
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZHNE), a global leader in network access solutions, announced today that its new MXK([TM]()) platform has been accepted by the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) for use by RUS program participants. RUS and the National Telecommunications and Information Agency (NTIA) are responsible for dispersing the $7.2 billion in economic stimulus funding allocated for broadband initiatives under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
